I’m SO sad that this pattern is no longer available! I have 3 daughters that would love one, as would I…

I can’t count anymore how many Dotties I made, love to make them from vintage fabric, the shape is just perfect for that

Dottie is such a simple CUTE bag, I just love how easy it was and the end result is great. She’s a tad bigger than i expected but thats a bonus. I already have another one started.

Another great Swoon. I love the vintage look. This was the first bag I made with the zipper across the top and it came out perfect! I was so excited each step of the way that I had to keep stopping to show it off to my boyfriend! Such a fun little bag to carry!

A challenging little bag but a sweet result.

I made this bag for my six-year-old granddaughter’s birthday and filled it with candy – she was delighted!! Dottie is a great pattern which gives you the chance to learn to add piping, zippers, and tabs. You can make this pattern in a day even with loads of interruptions. My next one will use “manly” fabric and leave off the handles to make a shaving kit. This is a versatile pattern with clear instructions, accomplished by the advanced beginner seamstress.

Dottie is a sweet little bag for a young girl or a toiletry bag. I have made several and featured Frozen themed, or My little Pony, or Hello Kitty on them…they are just so cute, and really quick to whip up. They are also great to give at birthday parties…especially when you have NO CLUE what to give. I line the inside of mine in a waterproof fabric, to protect it from shampoo, or soap or toothpaste, or markers without lids… adorable pattern, you will not be dissapointed.

Another great pattern from Swoon that’s easy to follow and put together in a day (or less!!). If you’ve never done piping before this is a good place to start, and the directions walk you through it well enough that even a beginner sewer should be able to get good results. My only complaint is that the recommended interfacing can get “crunchy” and wrinkle easily. I haven’t made a second bag yet, but when I do I’m going to try something softer that has body, like fusible fleece. Other than that, this is a sweet little bag that makes a great cosmetic pouch!

I love love love the Dottie bag. It’s such a cute bag and Alicia makes her patterns so easy to follow. I’ve never sewn bags before I found Swoon. Now I want to sew all of them. It’s the perfect size for an evening out on the town. I can’t wait to make more!! You can check mine out at

I don’t know if I’ve met a Swoon bag that I haven’t liked, and Dottie is definitely a love! She is a great size for a small handbag or as a travel case with one of the bigger bags. Her size is great for kids as well as adults with the different handle options. She can be made manly or girly, frilly or plain, embroidered or lacey, so many options!

I LOVE this pattern! It went together easily and was the first time I worked with piping. The instructions included made working with the piping go so well. I wrote about this pattern over at my blog if you would like to stop by and check it out!

This a small bag with piping that is awesome! (Designer provided a free piping tutorial) Great for various uses, but I use it as a cosmetic bag with Stella, Betty and Dorothy Swoon bags. My personal luggage set! Great vintage look and feel. Versatile handles and any choice of fabric will work because of the design. Zippered pocket and a larger compartment is included. This pattern is easy to sew and make great gifts. Pattern instructions also include an insulated lunch bag option!
