Very cute wallet pattern. I do recommend reading through the tutorial (always) as it might seem a little confusing but it comes together in the end. My only complaint is the pieces cannot be used independent of one another.

This pattern was well written, even if it doesn’t “make sense” just trust it and follow the directions. I sew professionally and the construction on this is just fabulous. This was the first gift that had my mom and siblings debating if it actually came from a department store, and my sister asked me to make her one too. Definitely a hit!

I just LOVE this wallet! It’s pretty easy to follow along and it fits so many of my cards, cash and even my iPhone. I made one for my mother but in the end I had to keep the first one I’ll for sure be making more.

    It’s pretty easy to sew

This is the second swoon patterns that I’ve made. It’s pretty easy as long as you follow the directions carefully. I will be making more of these!

I started making this without looking at customer images and really regret it. Based on the pattern alone, it was very difficult to predict how the pieces would fit together. The two-piece design makes no sense, the individual pieces are pretty much useless on their own since they leave credit cards exposed and because they’re designed to snap to each other, neither can snap closed. When assembled it looks very nice, but I could do without carrying around the extra fabric and hardware. I’ll choose a different one next time!

Love this pattern! Although it was a bit challenging at first, I figured it out and has been a go to for quite some time 🙂 . Because I got stuck, I created a full length video tutorial so I could remember how to do it for the next time. Alicia does a fantastic job at explaining bag construction, much better than other designers I use.

I have made several of these wallets. It is very important to follow the directions step by step. It has plenty of room for ID, cards, cash, phone and even a tube of lipstick. Great as a stand alone or to drop in larger bags.

This was a fun make but was a little challenging. Probably most of my confusion would have been avoided had I just labeled all of the pieces as I cut so I highly recommend doing that. I swapped out some of the hardware because I had different supplies on hand than specified but it worked out well. I will definitely make more. The YouTube video helped tremendously when I got to the attaching of the card slots on either piece.

I finished mine today and I have to agree with Amy (see comment above). with a little tweaking I think it could work as two separated pieces. Will work on that. Overall without a very good tutorial on youtube I would have been lost trying to make it. Took a lot of time understanding the patterns. And why cut out round corners instead of rounding it in the final steps? Just a few thoughts. Will make one again with optional long handles and a few minor changes.

I gave up on making this….the instructions weren’t clear and the wording kept changing – just wasn’t able to follow – really wanted to make it…

Having completed the wallet…. it just doesn’t make any sense. Don’t get me wrong: the pattern itself is easy enough to follow. But the finished product is silly. If I take out the removable billfold to carry the “essentials” with the wrist strap, I have credit cards exposed for all to see, and a snap flap just hanging there, not snapping to anything. And although the removable billfold can be folded closed to hide any cards it contains, there’s no way to secure it closed, since both snaps connect to the other part of the wallet. When both pieces are snapped together, they’re great, but I can’t see using either of the pieces separately. I’ve loved every other Swoon pattern I’ve made, but I felt this finished product fell a bit short.

I love the finished wallet… It’s really cute and I’ve showed it off to friends who are amazed that I made it. I had loads of fun making it but it was definitely not easy for me (the Bonnie Bucket was quite a bit simpler). The hardest part was re-reading over and over the part where the snap ends up on the inside of a pocket to figure out what I did wrong but it’s actually right. While I would not call this “easy to make”, it was doable for me, a novice, and fun to make and the result is very nice looking and functional. I will definitely stick with Swoon for my next venture.

This pattern required a lot of patience on my part. And by that I mean patience with my children while I tried to get time in the sewing room! It was really fun to sew, following the pattern was easy. I’ll be making more for certain!

I adore Alicia’s patterns. The pearl is no exception. I love this pattern! I followed the mantra “just trust Alicia” and wow! I really feel like I am learning as I am sewing. Someday I hope to be able to adapt patterns for my own, and Swoon is the best way to start. Thanks Alicia! PS the Swoon group on FB is my favorite group ever!

Just what I was looking for! Not hard at all (I had a couple of issues, but some unpicking and rereading sorted them without any real problems, and were possibly down to being ill when sewing) and I had this made in about 5 hours. Not bad for a bored day off sick with flu, and now I have an excellent one of a kind wallet 😀

I love this one! It really isn’t hard at all, just follow the instructions slowly- sentence by sentence, and don’t skip steps. I recommend making a test piece first. I will be making many, many, many of these!
