Sophia Swim Tote

(11 customer reviews)

The perfect beach carry-all, Sophia can be worn like a backpack with a towel tucked under the handles because of its fully-adjustable one-piece design. A pleated pocket outside and a large hanging zippered pocket inside keep small items secure.

Exceptionally well written pattern, as always from Swoon. This was a fun project to make, not overly difficult and the instructions are perfection. This one was for a friend, will have to make one for myself now!

I have been looking for a long time for a well thought out bag to carry my mat, ball and cushions to Pilates class. I had been having to use two seperate bags but this fits the bill perfectly! I can carry my mat on the front and there is plenty of space inside for the ball and cushions. Clever way of doing the handles makes this a very practical bag. Instructions were very clear and accurate and the bag was a quick, easy make. As usual, Alicia does not disappoint, with a sylish bag that does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Almost done with my bag. It’s my pool bag so I used waterproof fabric as the exterior and a shower curtain fabric bought from Ikea for the lining. Just have to substitute the buttonholes for oval grommets like a few bag-ladies have done. I love how that looks.

It’s my first bag and I love this pattern.

This bag is HUGE! It will hold all your towels, and sand toys with no problem! I use oval grommets instead of doing button holes because I don’t enjoy doing button holes. My customers love the adjustable handles where they can stick bulky/wet towels. If you line it in laminated cotton it is easy to wipe clean.

Just finished my so easy, and will be perfect for the beach. I can’t wait to make another.

I love Alicia’s designs. They are clean, modern, yet classically stylish. There are so many options to customize the bag to truly make it your own. These bags you can carry and enjoy for years, unlike many of the patterns I see out there today that are designed for the moment and will be out of style in a short time. Not Swoon bags…they are designs you can love for years to come!

OMG BEST Beach Bag EVER!! Love the Style and Room…YUP you can Pack anything AND the Kitchen Sink!! LOVE my Sophia!

Sophia is more complicated than your basic “sew 2 rectangles together” tote-bag, but she is SOOOO worth it! I made 2 as Christmas gifts this year and the finished result looks like something you’d buy at a fancy department store. Definitely not for a beginner, but someone familiar with basic sewing techniques should have no problem putting this together with some time and extra care.

  9. Laura

This is the best beach tote I’ve ever seen! The straps adjust for a towel and there is SO much room inside! I made one with a waterproof fabric for the lining and it is a lifesaver with kids at the pool or beach!

I ♡ this bag pattern! I puchased clearanced some fun summer print vinyl tablecloths & used them to make great beach bags for my kiddos with this super SOPHIA BEACH TOTE pattern! Easy to follow and fun to make! WIN WIN!

I have been looking for this bag FOREVER! There are a zillion “patterns” for the basic market tote/beach bag style, and they are all the same and don’t really require a pattern. This one is full of thoughtful details, incredibly stylish, with a well-crafted pattern, and looks like something I would BUY. I don’t make things to look like I made them 🙂

Swoon hits it out of the park AGAIN!
