New Workshop!

This past summer I made a deal with my husband… I’d move from the home I loved if he’d help build me a workshop. And so the long process started! We made a trip to Lancaster County PA to order my new building; turnaround time is 2-3 months so it was ordered long before we actually closed on our new home! We moved and my custom building (14′ x 24′ two story workshop shed) was delivered from Sheds Unlimited a month later and we got to work! Big thanks to my awesome husband for his hard work, he spent 1 1/2 months finishing my new space. There is no running water (our home has a well and septic) but I have a rain barrel outside for cleaning water and the house isn’t too terribly far away.

First, hired a contractor to prep and pour the concrete pad.

My building being loaded up for delivery.

Delivery was fun to watch, they were in and out in about 4 hours.

My husband got started immediately on electrical and insulation, and I painted doors.

Then, hanging drywall…

Installed a mini split unit for air conditioning and heat.

A friend finished the drywall seams (Thanks, Chris!)

And I did lots of painting and staining. The walls are Valspar Filtered Shade.

The trim and stairs are Varathane Weathered Gray wood stain.

I installed a NanoStation to send wifi about 100 yards down to the building.

Floors were next, an inexpensive laminate; Lakeshore Pecan from Home Depot.

Hung trim, installed outlet covers, planted grass and started moving in! Another one of my hobbies is soap making and the upstairs space is my new soaping room. We still need to build a little deck off the patio doors, keep working on my grass, and install a gutter with a rain barrel. But those will have to wait until Spring. We are exhausted!
